Child Safe Policy

The Academy of Music Dance Drama is committed to the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of every child and young person who learns and performs with us.

Full policy coming soon

The Academy maintains a documented Child Safe Policy which is currently being republished on the new website. The full text is available on request — please email admin@musicdancedrama.com.au or call (02) 4268 5033.

What this looks like in practice

Our commitments to every student.

The Academy aligns its practice with the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and the requirements set out by the NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian.

  • Safe environments

Studios, performance spaces and changing areas are organised so that children are visible, supervised, and respected at all times.

  • Trusted educators

All teaching staff working with children hold the relevant Working With Children clearances required in NSW.

  • Listening to students

We encourage children and young people to speak up if anything concerns them, and we take every concern seriously.

  • Clear procedures

Staff follow documented procedures for supervision, communication, photography, and incident reporting.

Raising a concern

If something doesn’t feel right, tell us.

Children, parents, carers and staff are encouraged to raise any safety concern directly with Brett or Maree Lucas. All concerns are taken seriously and handled confidentially.

In an emergency, or if a child is at immediate risk of harm, please contact NSW Police on 000 or the NSW Child Protection Helpline on 132 111.
